Hotspots

From around the web

When Spot-on was just getting started founder Chris Nolan started using the phrase "stand alone journalist" to describe the work being done here.

Today's HotSpot is another example of that phenomenon. Reformed tech writers (they are legion) Ryan Tate has a day gig at the San Francisco Business Times but he also runs Covers, his independent site.

Tate uses Cover to expand his "straight" writing gig and to delve - sometimes personally, sometimes not - into subjects in which he and readers in the hotel and restaurant businesses have a strong interest, stronger than he can provide at the "real" paper.
