A bunch of Harvard folks – usually a crowd you can tell but to whom you can’t tell much – are turning to you web readers and other supposedly normal human beings for some help.
And being charitably minded, I’m gonna lend a hand.
The Nieman Foundation For Journalism at Harvard University has put up a post asking for questions readers would like to see asked of President George Bush and Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry during the debates, currently scheduled to be held at the end of this month.
This is your basic good idea. Here are my questions:
Mr. President: Your administration seems to believe that the invasion of Iraq is part of the war on terror. Although U.S. troops have been in Iraq for almost a year, none of the so-called “weapons of mass destruction” that could have threatened this country have been found. If no instruments of terror or terrorists have been found in Iraq why is that invasion an anti-terrorism effort?
Sen. Kerry: Can you say what, if anything your administration will do to separate the widespread impression in the Middle East and other Arab countries that U.S. foreign policy is driven by this country’s desire to harbor and protect the state of Israel?
If you’ve got some ideas, send ‘em in to me or the Harvard boys. I'll post the good ones -- no rants, please.
