Those of you visiting Spot-on for info on what we call "stand alone journalism" should pull up a chair and have a sit. It's a slow news week. You've got the time.
Here's the post that started it all; it's dated now (we have more than 10 times the number of readers) but, like this post for Jay Rosen's PressThink, it draws a clear line between that thing called "blogging" and what we - and, it seems a growing number of professional journalists - are doing.
You editor types in particular should have a serious look 'round. Spot-on's in the syndication business. We're from the Internet, yes, but we're here to help. Almost any and all of our fine writers can be yours - for a modest price, of course! And none of these folks are amateurs - they're read, edited, supervised. They're smart, responsible writers who - just like the folks who used to crowd your newsroom - know what they're doing.
Interested? Email editor Chris Nolan. She'll tell you all you want to know. And more.
Curious but don't want to commit? We understand. Get a subscription to our weekly newsletter: It's free, it's fun and we won't sell your name to anyone. You technical types should consider taking our RSS feed for your readers. It's also available through Bloglines as well as MyYahoo.
