Mike Spinney's thoughts on ailing Sen. Tim Johnson got a lot of attention. And, around here, attention means we get mail. Interestingly, not all of Spinney's correspondents told him he was nuts to think former Sen. Majority Leader Tom Daschle should, if necessary, be appointed to Johnson's seat.

Uwe Fisher, who lives in Morrisville, N.C., says Mike had a good idea. What's interesting about that? Mr. Fisher says he's voted for a lot of Republicans.

"Common Sense, Common Decency," is a good article and as a Republican,
I agree with you 100 percent. The people of the USA have spoken and it is time
for the Democrats to get what they earned through the mistrust of the
Republican leaders - who I helped put into power the first time.

I was glad to see that change with this last election. I, too, hope that Sen Tim Johnson recovers fully and hope
that he can take his seat again. In the event that does not happen, a Democrat should be selected to fulfill Sen. Johnson's term. It is
the right thing to do and I thank you for telling it like it should be!

It will be interesting to see what really happens but I hope for the
best thing: His full recovery.

We love reader mail, by the way. So don't be shy!
